APM Office Hours...College Athletics Edition

APM recently hosted the Office Hours – College Athletics Edition webinar, where we walked through tips and best practices for finding the right music tracks quickly and efficiently on the APM website. The focus was on tools that matter most to college athletic departments. Things like mobile-friendly searching and audio similarity features, and the response from attendees made it clear that these are solving very real, very daily challenges.

Featured Tip

We covered the core workflow of using APM for college athletics departments. From quick searches to identifying a song that sounds exactly like the one your creative director heard in an edit ten years ago but can't remember the name of. The featured tip of our session is our new mobile experience. Yes, you can actually search our library on your phone now. That includes all of our AI search tools.

What Else We Covered

  • People care a lot about saving time, because time is finite and someone still has to cut the highlight reel before the next kickoff.

  • Similarity search blew minds in real time. Just drop a link to your favorite track and watch as our library suggests sonically similar tracks

  • Our Famous Tracks Playlist offers a selection of songs that are well known and don't "feel" like production music.

Q&A

Here's a few of the questions that were asked during the session, and their respective answers. They have been lightly edited for clarity:

  • Q: If you put "Sponge Bob" in the search bar, would that song (The Rake Hornpipe) come up?

  • A:That track does not, but we have two new albums this month featuring songs from SpongeBob Squarepants. One is the main version, the other is a remix version!

  • Q: We've had some APM tracks get muted (on Youtube and Tik Tok). We reached out to APM and the team helped out pretty quickly. What should we do in advance to avoid this happening in the first place?

  • A: This is a great question and we appreciate you sending in those claims promptly. There are a few things we can proactively do to stop claims. 1. Anytime you receive a claim on an APM track, please dispute the claim. This will put all monetization in escrow and ensure that you receive a full payout once the claim is cleared. 2. for proactive claim clearance, we can place an allowlist on your YouTube Channel. This will proactively and automatically release most claims. There will still be occasional claims that require manual intervention, but an allowlist will cover most, if not all, claims. Feel free to reach out to our support team after with any Channels that need allow listing! (support@apmmusic.com)

  • Q: Does APM have a blog or landing page with info on Content ID and/or Tik Tok pratices that you can you share?

  • A: We do have a live blog for best practices to avoid TikTok Muting, and will be releasing a YouTube/Content ID-focused article soon, You can find the TikTok Article here: https://www.apmmusicsports.com/how-to-avoid-content-muting-on-tiktok

  • Q: Would we as APM customers have full rights to use more than 60 secs on YouTube?

  • A: Great question! As long as no one else can claim the video (aka, you'd have to own all the content in the video) then you should be allowed to use more than 60 seconds.
